About 25 years ago I saw an ad in Hemmings for my 1950 Ford F-1 pickup. It was located in South Carolina. The truck was bright canary yellow and was listed as “in perfect shape.” After agreeing to purchase my “perfect truck,” Joe and I flew to South Carolina and planned a road trip home in the truck.  Little did we know that our well-laid plans were not to be.

After breaking down in Alabama, being rescued buy friends in Georgia, flying home and having the truck trailered home, work on the truck began. I installed a 350 high performance engine, front disc brakes with power-assist, power steering and air conditioning.

After that the real fun began. I took the truck to a shop to be painted. This paint job took over five years to complete. It was a full body-off paint job that got sidelined buy covid, personal problems with the painter and other delays. I lost my phone contact with the painter and thought for a while that I would never see my truck again.  I was ready to consider the truck a loss when one day the painter called and said he was resuming work on the paint job.  Work progressed from that point on and I went to see the truck getting worked on several times after that.  I feel very fortunate to have the truck after all that has happened.
